Ciao tutti!

Per cambiare di località per il prossimo Meetup, si potrebbe andare al padiglione ?Take Five? (al mare) che si trova a Zandvoort (vicino Haarlem)
(vedete la foto) e dove c?è la possibilità di cenare o stare insieme sulla grande terazza (almeno se non fa freddo) e godere con una bibita della veduta splendida sul mare, eventuualmente con un tramonto di sole romantico ?.
Per parcheggiare la macchina ci sono abbastanzi posti, si paga poco ed anche solo fino alle 9 della sera?
Con treno dovrete prima andare ad Amsterdam e da lì prendere il treno a Zandvoort che ci mette una ventina di minuti.
Della stazione ci vuole solo 10 minuti a piedi per arrivare a ?Take Five? che si trova proprio sulla spiaggia, di fronte al (vecchio) faro.

Per le persone che hanno volglia di ballare la salsa (od imparare a ballarlo): Domenica 22 Giugnio la scuola di ballo salsa (Salsamotion) organizza un
?salsa party?con barbeque al padiglione (nr. 15) "Mango's Beach Bar" che si trova (come Take Five) anche sulla spiaggia di Zandvoort.
Il bbq comincia alle 5.30 della sera e prima che inizia il party c?è un mezz?óra di lezione salsa per tutti principianti..

ciao a tutti! I'm taking a bit of a chance with the location this month, so I hope it works out!! (Please give feedback afterwards).

I wasn't impressed by the food at Donatello's, where we had our last Leiden meetup, so I thought I'd share with you one of the best Italian restaurants in Leiden. Sorrento is a nice, genuine pizza/pasta restaurant (as in run by an actual Italian!) which offers tasty food at reasonable prices.

I've eaten there and can vouch for the food, however it's much further from the train station than our previous venues, and not as easy to find. So to help you find your way, I have uploaded some maps showing the location of the restaurant.

It's basically located behind the Hoogvliet on Korevaarstraat, on the corner of a pedestrian side street (Hogewoerd) and Watersteeg (which turns into Hooigracht). Confusingly, the entrance is NOT through the big set of double doors right on the corner, but a smaller door on Watersteeg.

There should be some parking available in the area. If you come by train into centraal station I would suggest taking a bus down Breestraat, and get off at Korevaarstraat (opposite the Hoogvliet). There are lots of buses which go this way such as 31, 40, 42, 45, 169, 182, 206 - if in doubt just ask the driver if he goes down Breestraat. You can use www.9292ov.nl to work out your route.

You can also walk from the station if you prefer (I have uploaded a route map), but it will take around 20 minutes.

I waited until today before deciding on the venue, to see whether there will be another bus strike next week. I didn't see anything specific on the Connexxion web site so I really hope not!! But they have been arranged at short notice before, so do check www.connexxion.nl.

I may update this information if necessary, so please check this site again before the meetup.

I hope the maps and directions provided will guide you there, but if you have problems finding the restaurant please call me on 062 66 55 195.

As usual, please confirm your attendance by updating your 'maybe' RSVPs to a 'yes' or 'no' by Tuesday lunchtime at the latest, so I can make sure everyone has a seat!

Due to Vapiano's popularity, we will be returning there for our second meeting in Den Haag.

Festa da Franco!

Franco fa una festa a casa sua questo venerdì, 25 aprile. Limitato a 15-20 persone a causa di spazio ma (a parte quello) tutti sono benvenuti!

Sarà un 'BYOB' ("bring your own bottle" - e anche cibo se possibile). Siete pregati di RSVP prima possibile perché abbiamo un'idea dei numeri - non sarà possibile dire "maybe" questa volta. Inoltre se rispondi sì e poi non puoi venire, cambia la RSVP per permettere agli altri di venire.

Se avete musica italiana (o forse altra) portatela pure!

Hello, and welcome to our second meetup in Leiden! Apologies for the late notice this month - I hope it's not a problem for anyone.

As the vote to pick a location was split evenly between the two options (De Bruine Boon and Donatello's) I decided to try out Donatello's this month - partly because those who voted for what was important felt the option to move around was among the top priorities - which I hope we can do better at Donatello's - and partly because we haven't been there before.

I'm going to be looking for new venues for the next Leiden meetup, but as being near the train station is also important to the people who voted, that does limit our options somewhat. Please do let me know any ideas you might have.

The restaurant has asked us to confirm numbers by Tuesday lunchtime, so if you have selected 'maybe' please try to change this to a 'yes' or 'no' by then.

Having finally had the chance to check out Vapiano, a location recommended by a friend, I have decided to give it a try for our first Hague meeting.

Vapiano is an Italian pizza/pasta bar with reasonable prices and food, centrally located in the Buitenhof and it's open till late. I've made an initial reservation for 15 people; please keep your RSVPs as accurate as possible so I can adjust seat numbers if necessary. I will post further information here on Sunday evening.

First Leiden & Den Haag Italian Language Meetup!

From 2 potential meeting places, this month I've decided to go with "De Bruine Boon", a Dutch Brasserie which is literally 1-2 minutes walk from Leiden Centraal.

It's easy to find, it has room to accommodate a big group, the staff are friendly and they speak English. Since it's a bar/restaurant it means you can eat there if you want (i.e. you've come straight from work), or simply have a drink.

If you're coming from Leiden Centraal station, just walk towards the centre of town and you'll see the brasserie to your left, on the corner just before the first canal. It's more or less opposite the VVV tourist point (see De Bruine Boon website).


There is no fixed agenda for this meeting: it will be an opportunity for us to break the ice, get to know each other a bit and maybe talk over some ideas for the group. The idea is of course to speak Italian but this is not a rule! So if you are a beginner who can't say much yet, or an Italian who wishes to practice some Dutch or English, please don't worry :)
